How this is worked out. A fixed rate with equal monthly repayments of capital and interest, and the arrangement fee paid separately. Lenders price each case on the business’s trading history, credit profile and any security, and some charge fees differently.

About this calculator

What interest rate should I enter?

Use a rate you have been quoted. Rates vary widely with the strength of the business, how long it has traded and whether the loan is secured. If you do not have a quote yet, ask us and we will tell you what is realistic for your case.

Will a longer term cost more?

A longer term lowers the monthly repayment but increases the total interest, because the debt is outstanding for longer. Change the term in the calculator to see the trade-off.

Will I need to give a personal guarantee?

Directors of limited companies are commonly asked for a personal guarantee on unsecured lending. It makes you personally liable if the business cannot repay, so take independent legal advice before signing one.

Is the result a quote?

No. It is an illustration based on your own figures. A lender will assess your accounts and bank statements before offering terms.
